Chlorella Plus from Douglas Labs contains chlorella plus spirulina for natural cleansing support.
Chlorella and spirulina are two kinds of algae that have a long history of consumption by humans and are rich sources of many nutrients.
Chlorella is fresh-water algae and has many health uses. The whole plant is used to make nutritional supplements. It is processed and made into tabs and liquid extracts. These extracts contain "chlorella growth factor," which is described as a water-soluble extract of chlorella containing chemicals including amino acids, peptides, proteins, vitamins, sugars, and nucleic acids.
Depending on the way "the crop" used to make them was cultivated, harvested, and processed, chlorella products can vary significantly. Chlorella is also used to increase "good" bacteria in the intestine in order to improve digestion.
Spirulina (blue-green algae) is primarily found in salt water and some large fresh water lakes.
