Ayur-Guggulipid caps, provided by Douglas Laboratories, contain 250 mg of guggul extract, standardized to a minimum of 2.5 percent guggulsterones Z and E, key active fatty acid compounds in guggul.
Guggul is an oleo-gum-resin, a secretion that is emitted from incisions in the bark of the Commiphora mukul tree. This small tree found throughout India has a variety of uses in traditional Ayurveda.

Guggul contains substances that lower cholesterol and triglycerides. One of these substances also decreases the redness and swelling that occurs in some types of acne.
Other primary benefits of Guggul extract involves the antioxidant properties of this ingredient. Unfortunately unstable molecules known as free radicals can often populate the bloodstream after certain metabolic reactions. An excess of these molecules could cause oxidative damage to cells and tissue. Guggul extract may be able to scavenge for free radicals and reduce the effects of oxidative degradation.
Douglas Labs' Ayur-Guggulipid Caps provide 250 mg of guggul gum extract in each serving. They also contain no yeast wheat gluten soy protein milk/dairy corn sodium sugar starch artificial coloring preservatives or flavoring.
