Description
Rosita wild handcrafted Ratfish Liver Oil is an ancient whole food derived from the liver of Chimaera monstrosa, also known as the Ratfish. The Norwegian Vikings and Scandinavian fishermen regarded Ratfish Liver Oil as a precious gift from the sea, ranking it above all other fish liver oils. Its rarity and exceptional properties were a major reason why the Norwegian Vikings named this oil "Gold of the Ocean". Sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway. Ancient whole food derived from the liver of the Chimaera monstrosa. No heat, chemicals or mechanical pressure used in the extraction process. Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil is handmade in small batches from the finest-quality wild liver, exclusively harvested from the unpolluted waters of the Norwegian Helgeland Fjords. The process of extraction is unique and based on age-old principles. No other company on this planet is aware of our remarkably natural and ancient extraction technique. No chemicals, heat, steam, or mechanical pressure are ever used in production. Metal is never used to manipulate the livers for fear of metal-induced lipid oxidation. Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil is the real oil contained in the liver cells of fresh liver: straw coloured and without an unpleasant odour and flavour. The oil maintains exactly the same form and nutritional composition that nature gave it, without being altered in any way. The time-consuming ancient methods used to produce our handcrafted oils, and their limited production volume, makes our production very specialised. Unlike the majority of fish oil companies, Rosita does not use molecular distillation to reduce contaminants. Molecular distillation is an effective method of reducing contaminants, however, the high heat destroys most of the vitamin content. Rosita utilises a proprietary method to reduce contaminants, so the oils meet the strict European regulations. Our ethos is to work with nature to supply the highest quality health-giving oils available. Rosita products are sustainably sourced from wild fish stocks in the pristine waters of Norway. Rosita RFLO is a "living oil" derived from wild Chimera monstrosa, which are a non-commercial by-catch deepwater fish species. It is produced in small batches sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway. How is the oil extracted from the Ratfish liver? Rosita Real Foods oils are pure natural premium Extra-Virgin oils. We do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment in the Rosita Method, and this is very important. These oils are very delicate and must not be heated, extracted through pressure or exposed to air or metal in the process. The fish and extraction process receive special treatment, with each liver inspected and only the best chosen and placed in a dark, oxygen-free environment. The oil is naturally released when the cod livers are exposed to temperatures slightly higher than the ocean, and great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity. Fish liver residuals are separated from the raw oil by use of a decanter and contaminants are removed without the use of heat or chemicals using a patented method and naturally occurring material. The oil is then placed in cold storage in the absence of oxygen and light, which keeps the oil fresh while it is tested for purity before being bottled. What does Ratfish liver oil taste like? Our Extra-Virgin Ratfish Liver Oil (RFLO) is a pure natural healthy product which has a mild, buttery taste. It is much less fishy tasting than our Extra-Virgin Cod Liver OIl. How do I take care of my RFLO? The key thing to preserve your oil is getting it cold BEFORE opening it and using it within a few months after opening. The oil may become thick and cloudy when cold, gently shake the bottle before use. When chilled, the stearins, waxes and triglycerides may appear as particles, as a film, cloudy, or thick like gelatin. This is normal for a fresh, wild and raw fish liver oil. You may take the oils out of the fridge 3-5 minutes before use to allow them to evenly mix and to permit the efficient use of the dropper. This is particularly important for the 10ml dropper. Care should be taken to keep the dropper untouched and free from pollutants as this could cause rancidity (e.g. mouth/saliva/skin contact may cause degradation of the antioxidants).
