About Lime: Also known as Key Lime, Citrus aurantifolia is a small evergreen tree that produces a small, sour fruit very similar to Lemon. It has a high content of citric acid, but typically less ascorbic acid. Botanists believe that most Lime trees originated in Burma and India, and were brought to the Mediterranean region more than a thousand years ago by early Arab traders. Lime Essential Oil is considered the most aromatically potent of the citrus oils. Historically, Lime has been used to prevent sailors long at sea from developing scurvy. This oil has phototoxic properties and exposure to the sun must be avoided after application to the skin.
