How To Get Rid Of Blackheads
Removing blackheads seems like a simple task, but do you know how to get rid of blackheads? Blackheads are stubborn like acne, to be treated. Hence it is best to go with simple, consistent, and gentler treatment to deal with blackheads. But first, do you know what blackheads are?
What Are Blackheads?
Blackheads, like whiteheads, are also a type of non-inflamed clogged pores. These pores are called comedones. They are a large opening in a hair follicle that has been clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria. And when these pores are exposed to air, they oxidise and turn black.
In simple words, they are a clump of dirt and oil mixed in a pore. If you do not take care of your pores regularly, the oil and dirt will eventually accumulate increasing the number of blackheads. And if someone has a lot of blackheads, their skin becomes scratchy, bumpy and rough.
People with oily skin or combination skin are more prone to blackheads than people with any other skin type. The skin around your nose has a high concentration of sebum glands which means those glands produce extra oil in the area near your nose causing high potential of clogged pores near your nose compared to chin or forehead.
If you want to learn how to get rid of blackheads, here are a few tips for you.
Tips On How To Get Rid Of Blackheads
Many dermatologists approve the tips given below. These tips will make it easier to get rid of blackheads on your forehead, nose, and chin.
1. Wash your face twice in a day
Washing your face might seem like the most basic advice, but trust me cleansing your face can go a long way. Cleansing your face helps in preventing oil and dirt from accumulating in your pores. Washing your face is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine.
If you cleanse your skin regularly, it will help in removing excess dirt, oil, bacteria, or any leftover makeup that is lingering on your face. Washing your face twice in a day will give you excellent results but for people with extremely dry skin or sensitive skin, washing your face with a cleanser only once should be enough as washing it more number of times will only make their skin drier.
Also, remember to watch your face after you work out or after any heavy physical exercise that causes sweating because sweat consists of bacteria, dirt and dead skin oils that can clog your pores leading to blackheads.
2. Exfoliate
Exfoliation is another important part that should be included in your skincare routine as well. You can use any naturally made scrub or a cosmetic scrub that is suitable for your skin type to kick out all the dead skin cells from your skin. When you rub the scrub, concentrate on the blackheads infested areas. Make sure to exfoliate at least once a week.
3. Use the laundry that you clean regularly.
When you sleep in your bed, all the dirt and oil from your face gets rubbed on your bedsheets and pillowcases. If you do not wash them regularly, it can lead to accumulation of grime which might get transferred to your face and clog your pores, further leading to the formation of blackheads.
4. Use pore strips
Pore-strips are just like band-aids that use adhesive to rip away the dead skin cells, oil and dirt. Like waxing, it might sound a little aggressive which it is, so to use the pore strips or not is upto you.
Pore strips forcefully pull out all the junk that has been accumulated, and that’s clogging your pores. Although pore strips help getting rid of blackheads quickly, let me warn you that pore strips work only when the blackheads have not been in the pores for an extended period.
5. Facials
If you want to carb blackheads, getting a facial regularly can help you to an extent. Facials refresh your skin and remove all the impurities and restore the glow on your skin.
Home remedies for getting rid of blackheads
Most people believe that home remedies work the best for anything. Same is the case for blackheads too. If you use the right ingredients, blackheads can be minimised by a lot and be even eliminated. Here are a few natural ways that will help you get rid of those blackheads.
1. Baking Soda
Baking soda is known for its natural exfoliating properties. Take some baking soda and add some water to create a paste and then apply it onto the blackheads affected areas. Gently scrub the skin using your fingers for at least two minutes and then wash it off with water. Do it regularly twice in a week to get best results.
2. Honey, lemon and salt
Lemon has astringent qualities that will cut off the grease while salt granules act as an abrasive scrub and honey will leave your skin smooth and moisturised keeping the germs away. Take all these three ingredients and make a paste. Apply the paste on the blackheads and let it be on for 5 minutes. Gently scrub your face in circular motions using your fingers and leave it for another five minutes. Later, wash your face with warm water. Repeat at least twice a week.
3. Steaming
Blackheads are very stubborn and subjecting your face to steam is one of the most effective ways to stubborn the blackheads. When you take steam on your face, it will make you sweat, which in turn helps in clearing out the dirt and bacteria from within, softening the pores. It becomes a lot easier to remove the blackheads once the pores are softened. Salons usually prefer this method to remove blackheads too.
4. Egg white mask
Egg whites work best for skin tightening. When egg whites are applied on the skin directly, it shrinks the pores and hence making it easier for forcing out the blackheads. Alongside that, egg whites are also well known for their oil removing and improving skin texture properties.
