Hesperidin was first isolated in 1828 from the inner white layer of citrus peels and is the food bound form of hesperitin, a bioflavonoid that mediates most benefits of hesperidin including cardiovascular benefits. Its important to note the difference between hesperitin and Hesperidin is Hesperidin converts into hesperitin in the body. For a while, hesperitin was incorrectly labeled as Vitamin C as it is found in citrus products and particularly concentrated in orange peels.
